The Commander of KFOR’s Regional Command East (RC-E), Colonel Peter Helzer, accompanied by Colonel Jonathan Lloyd, met with Lulzim Hetemi, the mayor of Leposaviq, to discuss KFOR’s ongoing engagement in the area.

During the meeting, both commanders reaffirmed RC-E’s continued commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo.

According to KFOR, such engagements are a regular part of KFOR’s outreach efforts, allowing commanders to gain a direct understanding of local dynamics and to promote transparency and mutual trust.

These interactions, which KFOR describes as “politically neutral and community-focused,” enhance the mission’s situational awareness and strengthen its ability to carry out its duties effectively.

“KFOR continues to implement its mandate – based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999) – to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and to ensure freedom of movement, at all times and in an impartial manner,” KFOR stated.

KFOR also highlighted its close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), each in their respective roles as security responders.
