The Serb List has openly admitted that the Serbian state played a decisive role in the local elections held in Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo.

Its chairman, Zlatan Elek, publicly stated that the “victory” of his party was the result of Serbia’s direct support.

During a press conference after the closing of the electoral process, Elek personally thanked Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, the Government of Serbia, and the so-called Office for Kosovo, calling the outcome a “victory of Serbia in Kosovo.”

“Thank you, President Vučić, the Government of Serbia, and the Office for Kosovo. This is a victory of Serbia in Kosovo,” Elek declared, clearly implying Belgrade’s interference in Kosovo’s electoral process.

Earlier on election day, in the early morning hours when polling stations opened, Elek, along with other party officials and hundreds of Serbs, organized a coordinated turnout at the polling centers.

Just days before the elections, Serbia had announced the creation of 400 new jobs for Serbs in the north — a move widely interpreted as a pre-election incentive.
