It has been 100 days since the roof collapse at the train station in Novi Sad, Serbia, a tragedy in which 15 people lost their lives and two others were severely injured.
Students from the Faculty of Agriculture in Zemun blocked the Gazela Bridge in Belgrade today, with the blockade set to last from 11 AM to 6 PM.
“100 days since the tragedy in Novi Sad, and no one has been held accountable for the 15 lost lives. We demand that the responsible authorities take accountability,” the students wrote in their statement.
After paying tribute to the victims, the students threw 15 roses into the river from the Gazela Bridge, one for each of the victims.
In Novi Sad, from 11 AM to 2 PM, three major intersections were blocked, effectively preventing entry into the city, reports N1.
“100 days since the roof collapse, 100 days of fighting for justice and accountability, we’ll see you there, bring whistles,” the message said for the blockade in Novi Sad.
Five students from the University of Kragujevac will run a relay marathon to Belgrade today to deliver invitations to the protest scheduled for February 15th in Kragujevac, which will coincide with the national holiday of Sretenje.
Protests and “15 minutes of silence” will also take place today in multiple cities across Serbia and internationally.
