Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić met today with a bipartisan delegation of U.S. Congress members in Dayton, where he used the opportunity to complain over what he called the “unilateral actions of Albin Kurti’s administration” in Kosovo.
According to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Đurić described these actions as “the greatest threat to regional stability” and called on the United States to play an irreplaceable role in helping to stabilize the situation on the ground.
“The current trajectory of the Kosovo leadership is dangerously escalating tensions,” Đurić reportedly stated, urging greater U.S. diplomatic involvement.
Context and Parallel Diplomacy
Đurić is visiting the United States to attend the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, where Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani is also present, highlighting the parallel diplomatic efforts from both sides amid persistent tensions in the Western Balkans.
Regional Concerns Grow
This meeting comes amid increased international focus on the fragile security dynamics in northern Kosovo, where clashes between local Serbs and Kosovo authorities have periodically flared.
