Serbia has condemned Kenya’s recognition of Kosovo as a “hostile act” and warned that it would take “all necessary diplomatic measures” in response.

The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Kenya’s decision as a “serious violation of international law” and a direct challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

According to the Ministry, Kenya’s recognition of Kosovo also breaches the UN Charter and undermines efforts for constructive dialogue, regional stability, and respect for international legal order.

Serbia also noted that Kenya referred to the International Court of Justice’s ruling on Kosovo’s independence, calling it “baseless.” The Serbian Ministry further stated that this decision will negatively impact relations between Serbia and Kenya.

Serbia claimed that in the last eight years, “28 countries have either withdrawn or suspended their recognition of Kosovo’s independence,” while only two new countries have recognized Kosovo.

The Ministry emphasized that the majority of the international community, along with law and justice, remains on Serbia’s side. Serbia reaffirmed its commitment to continue opposing Kosovo’s international recognition and to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity using all available diplomatic and legal means.
