The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Gjuric, said that in a meeting with the Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Department of State, John Bass, he requested the opening of a strategic dialogue between the USA and Serbia.
“I spoke with the undersecretary for political affairs at the State Department, John Bass, and underlined that the opening of the strategic dialogue between Serbia and the US would send a strong signal to commit both countries to the common goal of continued advancement quality and quantity of our bilateral relations”, wrote Gjuriq.
He also said that “Serbia and the United States of America are connected by 143 years of diplomatic relations”.
Djuric informed the interlocutor about “the foreign policy priorities of the new government of Serbia, among which is the completion of key reforms on the way to membership in the European Union by 2027, thanking the American side for its support in the integration process European”.
Kosovo is one of the countries of the Western Balkans with “special” relations with the United States of America. However, it has not yet managed to advance the level of cooperation with Washington in what the Americans are calling the “Strategic Dialogue”, which Skopje and Tirana have managed to make official. Slovenia, Romania and other countries have such dialogue with the Americans.
