Thousands of students and citizens spent the night blocking Autokomanda, one of Belgrade’s major traffic hubs. The 24-hour blockade, scheduled to end at 10 AM, is a peaceful protest aimed at reminding the government of demands that have remained unanswered for two months.

Violence During Protest

The situation escalated overnight when students were attacked with baseball bats.

A statement from the students sent to N1 reported:

  • A female student sustained severe injuries and is currently being treated at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina.
  • Four men carrying baseball bats allegedly targeted a group of students.

The attack occurred when a medical student and his colleague placed a sticker on a trash can near the offices of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Following this, two unidentified individuals exited the SNS premises and immediately assaulted the students, the statement claims.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of peaceful protesters in Serbia and the response of law enforcement.
