Serbian Ambassador Presents Credentials to Trump, Invites Him to Visit Belgrade

Washington, July 28, 2025Dragan Shutanovac, the newly appointed Ambassador of Serbia to the United States, officially presented his credentials to President Donald Trump today at the White House, marking the formal start of his diplomatic mission in Washington.

Following the ceremony, Shutanovac shared a message via Instagram, describing the encounter as “friendly and constructive.” He noted that the two discussed bilateral relations and expressed mutual interest in strengthening cooperation between Serbia and the U.S.

“I reminded President Trump that no American president has visited Serbia since 1980 — and I invited him to change that,” Shutanovac wrote.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on expanding economic and political collaboration, and Ambassador Shutanovac formally extended an invitation to President Trump for an official visit to Belgrade.

The proposed visit is seen as a potential step toward fostering a closer strategic partnership between the two countries.
