Montenegrin police announced this evening the arrest of S.M. (23) from Serbia, for making a false bomb threat on an Air Serbia flight from Belgrade to Tivat. The threat led to the temporary closure of Tivat Airport.
The police stated that at 4:40 PM, they received a phone call reporting an explosive device on a plane scheduled to land at Tivat Airport at 6:30 PM.
A series of urgent measures were taken to ensure passenger safety and identify the caller. A crisis team was formed at the airport, operating according to established crisis protocols, police said.
Tivat Airport was evacuated, and upon the Air Serbia plane’s landing, passengers and luggage were inspected. Anti-sabotage units conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and determined that the threat was false.
Numerous police and prosecutorial activities quickly led to the identification, location, and apprehension of S.M. (23) from Serbia, the police statement, relayed by FoNet, concluded.
