Serbian media have described the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, as very difficult.
Facing England and Albania, the Serbs believe there could not have been a worse draw.
“When it comes to the first pot, our selection could not have been worse. We played against England in the European Championship and lost 1-0. The matches against the team from the third pot, Albania, will be particularly challenging for well-known reasons. In theory, rivals from pots three and four shouldn’t be a problem for a team like Dragan Stojković’s,” wrote Kurir.
Serbia will first face a playoff to stay in League A of the Nations League, with a duel against Austria on March 20 and 23.
The World Cup qualifying matches will be held from March to November of next year, with the exact schedule to be announced later.
