Serbia’s Prime Minister Gjuro Macut is facing public scrutiny after refusing to answer questions from a KRIK journalist regarding his purchase of a luxury villa in Zvezdara worth over one million euros—a transaction made just one day before he officially assumed office, Rks News reports.
During a press conference held today at the Belgrade City Assembly, Macut declined to explain where the funds for the purchase came from or how such a major acquisition was made so close to his appointment as Prime Minister.
According to KRIK’s investigation, the approximately 200-square-meter property is a high-end residence that has triggered public concern and demands for transparency.
