President Aleksandar Vučić has ruled out seeking another term, stating that he has no intention of amending the Constitution to secure a third mandate.

Speaking at a press conference in Belgrade with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, Vučić confirmed that his current term will end in approximately 18 months.

“I have long been part of the political scene and I will not run again. I have no intention of changing the Constitution for personal purposes. I am not a dictator, as some media in Austria often portray me,” Vučić said.

Regarding upcoming elections, Vučić noted that they may be announced earlier than the legal deadline, but did not provide a specific date, emphasizing that this decision falls under the jurisdiction of the relevant institutions.

“I will support those whom I believe have the potential to move the country forward and I will commit to their success. My future position is not a topic for discussion at this time,” he added.

Vučić also commented on protests and public dissatisfaction, describing them as a normal part of a functioning democracy, provided they are peaceful.
