Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić described a recent meeting between opposition politicians and European Parliament members as “the most ridiculous in the world,” criticizing both the attendees and the opposition for drawing attention to it.

Vučić called the personal sanctions demanded by the opposition “a special audacity” and stated he is willing to take responsibility himself. “I am guilty, let them go after me; I dream of being a victim of persecutors,” he said regarding calls for his arrest over the General Staff affair.

He also clarified that he did not ask former director Dubravka Đukanović to resign voluntarily but insisted she be dismissed for alleged nepotism, adding that the General Staff investment loss involved no personal gain.
