The County Court in Split, Croatia, has rejected the request for release of Ana Murganić, a former employee of international missions in Kosovo, who is suspected of involvement in an espionage affair that has shaken Croatia’s Ministry of Defense (MORH).
According to 24sata.hr, the defense request was denied due to the risk of flight, while her partner, a former member of the Croatian KFOR contingent in Kosovo, has been released from custody.
Investigations have revealed that during the inspection of their mobile devices, authorities discovered communications indicating the transfer of sensitive military information to Serbian political representatives.
It is suspected that Murganić received classified data from her partner regarding the movements and operational plans of KFOR troops in northern Kosovo, which she allegedly forwarded to the “Serb List” structures—the main Serbian political party in Kosovo, known for its close cooperation with Belgrade.
Investigators have identified at least four instances of leaked classified information, including details linked to the tensions in Zubin Potok and the arrest of former Kosovo police officer Dejan Pantić in December 2022.
Sources also report that Ana Murganić previously worked for EULEX and UNMIK missions, where she established contacts with Serbian judicial officials and political figures.
She will remain in custody until the investigation phase concludes, while Croatian authorities have not ruled out expanding the probe to include other individuals potentially connected to the suspected espionage network.
