Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci stated that it is worrying to hear that terrorist and paramilitary groups are continuously preparing near the border with Kosovo. However, he emphasized that Kosovo has the capacity to respond, and the country’s institutions are ready to maintain order, enforce the law, and extend sovereignty.
Maqedonci mentioned that the increased vigilance of Kosovo’s institutions makes these paramilitary and terrorist groups “uncertain” about any potential attacks.
“It is concerning, but we must remember that we are more prepared and ready than ever to respond to any threat or risk to our country. This was demonstrated during the September 24 attack. After the September 24 attack, the extension of sovereignty, order, and law, the presence of the Kosovo Police in the north, and the increased vigilance of the country’s institutions make Kosovo safer. It also makes the paramilitary and terrorist groups more uncertain about their presence and the possibility of succeeding in any future attack. Despite all these challenges, security institutions are prepared,” he said on RTV Dukagjini.
Maqedonci emphasized that before the September 24 attack in Banjskë of Zveqan, such paramilitary and terrorist groups had previously obstructed the full extension of sovereignty and intimidated citizens in the northern part of the country.
