Television network N1 reported on Monday that Milan Radoičić, the leader of the armed group that carried out the Banjska attack, and his associate Zvonko Veselinović are being protected by Serbia’s elite police units, Rks News reports.
According to the Serbian broadcaster, the protection was put in place following a murder in the Senjak neighborhood and the arrest of the former head of the Belgrade Police.
“After the murder in Senjak and the arrest of the former Belgrade police chief, the President of Serbia promised that police officers would no longer be assigned to protect tycoons and criminals. Meanwhile, we have learned that members of Serbia’s most elite police units are guarding businessmen from Kosovo, Milan Radoičić and Zvonko Veselinović,” N1 reported.
According to the report, Serbia’s Ministry of the Interior (MUP) has remained silent for more than a week after being asked to comment on the matter.
