Belgrade, July 28, 2025 — Serbia’s Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) claim they have arrested a Kosovo Serb on suspicion of espionage, according to northern Serbia-based portal Kosovo Online.
The individual in question has been identified as Sasha Gjorgjević from the municipality of Shtërpca in southern Kosovo.
According to the Serbian authorities, Gjorgjević was detained this morning at the Merdare border crossing. They allege that he was cooperating with the Albanian Intelligence Service (SHISH) via Kosovo’s Intelligence Agency (AKI).
“Gjorgjević has been placed in 48-hour detention due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of espionage,” Kosovo Online reports, citing a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Interior.
Serbian media have also published footage reportedly showing the moment of his arrest.
Authorities in Kosovo have not issued a response regarding the claims made by Serbian intelligence services.
