The opposition party Narodni pokret Srbije says that a broad and coordinated alliance of political groups, activists, and citizens is the key to political change in Serbia and the eventual fall of President Aleksandar Vučić.
Speaking about the political situation in the country, Borislav Novaković, vice president of the party, stressed that all forces seeking a “decent and civilized Serbia” must come together, regardless of ideological differences. According to him, the opposition must move from good communication to concrete cooperation in order to achieve meaningful change.
“We must get used to our differences and gather everyone who wants a civilized and decent Serbia, because only through a joint approach can we achieve change and organize the state properly,” Novaković said in remarks broadcast by Nova television.
Call for a Broad Coalition
Novaković argued that a heterogeneous majority is necessary to remove the current government, while a separate majority could later emerge after the first free elections, capable of governing and implementing reforms.
He also pointed to developments in Novi Sad, saying that student groups, civic assemblies, and opposition parties have largely acted together in recent activities and protests.
Criticism of Authorities
The NPS official criticized state institutions, claiming that prosecutors and police in Novi Sad have shown “brutality”, with many activists being detained or prosecuted.
Novaković also accused President Vučić of obstructing justice and preventing those responsible for a recent tragedy from facing accountability, while alleging that authorities had acted against citizens, activists, and opposition representatives.
According to him, protests and political pressure will continue until those responsible are brought to justice and prosecuted activists are allowed to return, including those who have left the country.
“We must act together — through coordination, synergy, and collective momentum — to defeat Vučić. Once he is no longer in power, organizing the state will be much easier,” Novaković said.
