Recently, the arrest of Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi has garnered significant attention, as both are suspected of espionage.
During the raid on the suspects’ homes, police found and seized various documents, computers, phones, USB drives, DVRs, tapes, weapons and ammunition, masks, military gas masks, and many other pieces of evidence.
This has sparked major reactions, raising questions about national security.
In a statement for “Bota sot,” security expert Fatjon Softa discussed the issue.
Initially, he expressed that the recruitment of former officials by the Serbian state is a serious concern, as it jeopardizes national security.
“The Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo, after several months of investigations, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), has arrested two citizens, Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, suspected of espionage, and conducted searches in their residences.
The recruitment of former officials and their use for purposes detrimental to the interests of the state of Kosovo is a serious concern that threatens national security,” emphasized the expert.
According to Softa, Serbian bases and agents in Kosovo must be uncovered by Kosovo’s services in collaboration with allied states’ services.
“Bedri Shabani was removed from the Kosovo Customs in 2004. But how were they recruited and catapulted into state structures? Weapons, ammunition, masks, documents, and computers were found in their residences.
Serbia has been present in Kosovo, and their bases or collaborators, their agency must be uncovered by Kosovo’s services and in cooperation with allied services. The control of the administration, especially institutions that hold and process sensitive materials, is of utmost importance,” he stressed.
Furthermore, the security expert commented on the importance of investigations, stating that it should be checked whether there is a broader network of Serbian agents.
“The importance of their investigation should extend to see if there is a network that functions and how deeply Serbian services have penetrated.
This is hybrid warfare, preparing the ground for a military conflict.
We are witnesses that Russian services had infiltrated the high levels of the German army, this fact demands an increase in the level of intelligence,” concluded Fatjon Softa for “Bota sot”.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
