Several people have reportedly lost their lives after a passenger train derailed in southwestern Germany on Sunday, according to German media citing security sources, as reported by Reuters.
A police spokesperson in the city of Stuttgart confirmed that there were multiple injuries among approximately 100 passengers on board. At least two train carriages derailed near the town of Riedlingen.
The train was operating on a 90-kilometer (55-mile) route between Sigmaringen and Ulm when the incident occurred.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the derailment. Emergency services have been deployed to the scene, and efforts to assist the injured are ongoing.
