Severe Weather Causes Damage in Villages Near Gjakova, Trees Uprooted and Power Poles Damaged

Heavy rainfall and strong winds that swept through the Gjakova region have caused material damage in several areas, uprooting trees and damaging electricity poles.

The Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Gjakova region, Vlera Krasniqi, told Klankosova.tv that the incidents were reported in the villages of Gërgoc and Cërmjan.

“According to the initial information from the field, several cases of fallen trees and damage to electricity poles were reported in the villages of Gërgoc and Cërmjan as a result of the severe weather. Police units responded immediately to the scene, while municipal emergency services were also notified. In cooperation with the relevant institutions, intervention teams were deployed, and the roads in the affected area are currently passable,” Krasniqi said.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious while traveling, warning that the adverse weather conditions may continue to pose risks in different parts of the region.
