During his visit to Washington, Shaip Kamberi was personally presented by U.S. Congressman Keith Self with the law addressing discrimination against Albanians in Serbia.
According to Kamberi, this act is not symbolic but a formal instrument of the U.S. government.
Full Statement by Kamberi:
“Today, in Washington, U.S. Congressman Keith Self personally handed me H.R. 6411 – the Presheva Valley Discrimination Assessment Act – a law that officially places the systematic discrimination against Albanians in Serbia on the agenda of the U.S. Congress for the first time.
This act is not symbolic.
It is a U.S. government instrument to assess, document, and expose: administrative disenfranchisement, exclusion from public institutions, suppression of the language, discrimination in education, and economic marginalization of Albanians in the Presheva Valley.
For the first time, this injustice is no longer at the periphery of diplomacy. It enters the heart of U.S. policy—not as a protocol, but as a moral obligation.
I thanked Congressman Keith Self on behalf of every Albanian in the Presheva Valley.
In a world where many remain silent for the sake of interest, Congressman Keith chose to speak out from principle.”
