Swiss football referees have recently been at the center of attention. Following Xherdan Shaqiri, another Kosovar has criticized the fairness of officiating in the Swiss Super League.
Kosovo and Lugano goalkeeper Amir Shaipi has said that the referees made three controversial decisions in favor of Lausanne-Sport. Lugano lost 4-1 in the match played on Sunday.
“We play football, not ballet. Shaqiri was right when he said it last week. We need to think about whether we have the best referees. We need to take a closer look at how penalties are awarded. Maybe the referee wanted to give the team a penalty. It’s difficult when you have to fight against the referee as well,” Shaipi said to bluewin.
Shaipi is the first-choice goalkeeper for Lugano, who finished the autumn season as champions with 31 points. Basel finished second with 30 points, the same as Lausanne-Sport.
Lausanne won four penalties in Sunday’s match.
