Gunshots were reported late Friday evening in the village of Zhabar, located in South Mitrovica, with authorities confirming that one adult male was injured.
Police spokesperson for the Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti, stated that law enforcement received reports of gunfire at approximately 22:00 local time. Initial investigations indicate that the victim sustained injuries caused by a firearm and was immediately transported for medical treatment.
Relevant police units have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Medical officials confirmed that the injured individual sought emergency care at the General Hospital “Dr. Sami Haxhibeqiri”. According to hospital representative Shpend Fazliu, the patient, born in 1982, arrived at the emergency department at 22:25 and was diagnosed with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Doctors reported that the injured person is currently receiving treatment and is not in life-threatening condition.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding possible suspects or motives as the investigation remains ongoing.
