The Municipality of Shtime has declared a state of emergency across its entire territory after continuous heavy rainfall that began early Tuesday caused significant damage.

The decision was made by Mayor Qemajl Aliu, who visited the affected areas in the evening to assess the situation.

“Dear citizens, the continuous rainfall over the past days has caused serious difficulties in several areas of the municipality. Based on our institutional competencies and responsibilities, I have decided to declare a state of emergency throughout the Municipality of Shtime to respond efficiently and ensure the safety of everyone,” said Aliu.

He announced that the Emergency Staff will convene again tomorrow and is already active on the ground managing the situation.

According to Aliu, since the early morning hours, all municipal directorates, along with their subordinate units and services, supported by the Fire Service and Police, have been mobilized to keep the situation under control.

In some villages, the situation remains severe, but Aliu noted that municipal teams with specialized machinery are carefully intervening to address the damage and ensure citizens’ safety.

The municipality urged residents to exercise caution and follow official announcements until the situation is fully normalized.
