The Democratic Party of Kosovo’s (PDK) candidate for mayor of Lipjan, Shukri Buja, has launched a scathing attack against Judge Radomir Laban, accusing him of having long-standing ties with Serbian state structures during the repressive regime of Slobodan Milosevic.
During an appearance on the TV program “DPT te Fidani,” Buja alleged that Laban served as a Serbian militiaman and spent over two decades as a judge under the Serbian judicial system.
“Today, the President reacted to a judge who hasn’t yet issued any decision on her request. But the public should be informed: this Serbian judge was a militiaman trained in Vushtrri’s academy during the 1980s. In the most crucial events for the Albanian people, he was acting as a **Serbian enforcer from the ‘80s through the ‘90s’,” Buja stated.
He continued:
“From 1990 to 1992, he served as the Director of the Internal Affairs Inspectorate in Kosovo, and for 25 years he worked as a judge serving Serbia and Slobodan Milosevic’s regime. He also handled the case of senior Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) members in the Court of Appeals and sent it back for retrial after we were acquitted.”
These explosive claims raise serious concerns about the impartiality of figures within Kosovo’s justice system, particularly those involved in high-profile war-related cases.
