North Macedonian President, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, visited the victims of the devastating fire at the nightclub in Kočani, who are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital of Ohrid. Following her visit, Siljanovska spoke to the media, visibly distressed by the tragedy.
She expressed her deep emotional shock, stating, “I can’t understand how this could happen! They are young and courageous, and I believe most of them will survive. The doctors are here. They will learn from life.”
Despite the grave situation, she remained hopeful that the injured individuals would recover. However, she expressed doubts about the cause of the fire, suggesting it might have been due to technical issues, which could have been prevented. “I believe it was for technical reasons. It could have been foreseen to prevent this,” she added.
Siljanovska also expressed her concern about the lack of proper safety measures, asking whether there was a designated fire safety center. When asked about sharing the news with parents, she responded, “At first, hope, then pain. They are young, they will hold on. They will come through.”
This tragic incident has shaken the community, and authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
