“Regarding the reported incident that occurred today at Skopje International Airport, in the VIP lounge, TAV states that in accordance with the Aviation Law and international legal regulations related to civil aviation security, TAV Macedonia, as the airport operator, has a legal obligation to conduct security checks on all passengers, luggage, and goods on flights from Skopje International Airport and from Saint Apostle Paul Ohrid Airport, including passengers traveling through the VIP lounge.
“Therefore, TAV Macedonia’s Security Department, within its competencies, conducted a standard security check on the mentioned passenger and their luggage at the security checkpoint in the VIP lounge.
We want to emphasize that aviation security was not compromised, as the mentioned event took place in the public area of the airport, specifically in front of the security checkpoint of the VIP lounge, from where VIP passengers, after being checked by Security, are escorted to the controlled area of the airport.
We also want to emphasize that the VIP lounge is a separate building isolated from the main terminal building of Skopje Airport, meaning that it is completely false that the security of travelers was compromised,” emphasizes TAV.
To get an accurate picture of the event and to prevent the spread of misinformation, for all details regarding the incident, we direct the media to contact the competent institutions, adds TAV.“
