The Basic Court in Pristina has issued a conviction against Slađan Trajković for war crimes, sentencing him to 10 years in prison.

The verdict was announced on Friday. Presiding judge Ngadhënjim Arrni stated that Trajković was found guilty under Count C of the indictment, for which the prison sentence was imposed.

Time already spent in pre-trial detention will be credited toward the sentence, and Trajković’s detention has been extended through a separate court decision.

In addition to the prison sentence, Trajković was ordered to pay:

  • €200 in court costs
  • €100 to the state fund for compensation of crime victims

The injured parties were referred to pursue their property claims in civil proceedings.

Regarding Counts A, B, and D, the court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove Trajković’s criminal responsibility for those charges.

Both parties have the right to appeal the verdict within 30 days to the Court of Appeals.

The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo filed the indictment on July 12, 2023, accusing Slađan Trajković of committing war crimes against civilians during the 1998–1999 war in Kosovo, in the village of Reznik, Vushtrri municipality, and surrounding areas.
