Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid Al Saud of Saudi Arabia has passed away at the age of 36. Known as the “Sleeping Prince,” he remained in a coma for 20 years following an accident in London in 2005.

International media report that Al-Waleed suffered a brain hemorrhage and internal bleeding at just 15 years old while studying at a military college in London.

After the accident, he was transferred back to Saudi Arabia and admitted to the King Abdulaziz Medical Center in Riyadh, where he remained in a coma for 19 years, sustained by medical machines.

His death was announced by his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, who posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“With hearts that believe in the will and decree of Allah, and with deep sorrow and grief, we mourn our beloved son: Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. May Allah have mercy on him.”

His father never gave up hope that his son would awaken and refused to disconnect the life-support machines.
