Kosovo has greater potential than its current FIFA ranking suggests, Slovak football expert Ladislav Borbely stated in an interview with the Slovak media outlet Pravda.

Currently, Kosovo is ranked 79th in the FIFA rankings, while Slovakia holds the 44th position. Borbely emphasized that the ranking does not reflect the true strength of the Kosovo national team.

“The two teams are balanced in terms of value; a difference of two or three million doesn’t make much of a difference. We may be higher in the FIFA rankings, but that doesn’t tell the full story. Kosovo is on a significant rise. Its position doesn’t reflect its current strength. It is much stronger, similar to ours,” Borbely said.

The Slovak expert added that he has closely studied Kosovo and drawn some interesting conclusions:

“It is a talented team from the Balkans, with elements of German mentality. Thanks to coach Franco Foda, natural abilities have been improved, allowing them to compete at the European level.”

Borbely noted that Kosovo plays rationally and chooses situations pragmatically. He described the team’s play as stable and does not expect players to enter matches with excessive emotions, adding that coach Foda will manage this aspect.

He also expressed hope that Kosovo’s double-headed eagle would not fly over Bratislava, highlighting the difficulty of predicting the match favorite.
