The Kosovo Police have today prevented a case of goods smuggling in the Gjilan region.
According to a press release, during a surveillance operation in the border area above the village of Upper Korminjan, in the municipality of Ranillug, a suspicious vehicle of the “Shiroka” type with Serbian license plates was identified as it entered illegally via mountainous routes from Serbian territory.
Police state that after a rapid operational response, the vehicle was stopped around 11:30 AM in the village of Upper Korminjan. Upon inspection, it was found that the vehicle, driven by B. S., a male citizen of Kosovo, was loaded with 47 crates containing 20 bottles each—totaling 940 units of “Zaječarsko” brand beer, with an overall volume of approximately 470 liters, produced in Serbia.
The goods were not accompanied by any documentation regarding their origin or intended destination.
The confiscated goods were transported to the customs terminal for further procedures in accordance with the law.
The case is being handled by the Border Surveillance Police Station Unit – Muçiverc, under the Regional Directorate of the East – Kaçanik.
