The Task Force Units – East, in collaboration with the Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Police, successfully prevented a smuggling attempt yesterday in an operation aimed at combating illegality and smuggling.
The operation took place along the border between the Republic of Kosovo and North Macedonia, specifically in the Hani i Elezit area. During the evening hours, the units stopped a vehicle with North Macedonian plates, driven by a Macedonian citizen. Upon inspection, authorities discovered various household goods for which no valid documentation existed. Based on the labeling on the packages, it is suspected that these goods were illegally smuggled into Kosovo.
The value of the seized goods is estimated to exceed €2,000. The vehicle and the goods have been sent to the customs terminal, where Kosovo Customs authorities are continuing legal procedures regarding the case.
This operation highlights the commitment of Kosovar institutions to prevent illegal activities at the country’s borders and strengthen law and order.
