The Qafë Thore–Theth road axis has been completely blocked following snow avalanches in the area near the panoramic tunnels, Albanian authorities have confirmed.
In a statement shared on social media, the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) said that the avalanches occurred at approximately kilometre 5.5 of the road. Due to serious safety risks, traffic has been fully suspended for all vehicles, including snow-clearing machinery, as the area remains highly dangerous for passage.
Authorities noted that preparatory work is underway near the affected zone, including the removal of smaller avalanches and the widening of the passable section, in order to enable a future intervention to clear the blocked area.
