The Serbia Center Party (SRCE) has sharply condemned the authorities for allowing what it calls a form of sadistic torture to continue in front of the Serbian Parliament loud, relentless music blasted day and night at the tent settlement where activist Dijana Hrka has been on hunger strike since Sunday.

“The continuous, all-day noise directed toward a woman on hunger strike is not only an act of deep inhumanity, but also a barbaric method of psychological torture something explicitly prohibited by international conventions that Serbia itself has signed,” said Duško Lopandić, the party’s vice president.

While Hrka protests against the regime’s negligence in the tragic case of the collapsed canopy, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) government stands accused of turning a blind eye or worse, allowing the harassment to continue as a show of intimidation toward dissenters.

Lopandić urged Hrka to end her hunger strike to preserve her health, emphasizing that “no act of personal sacrifice will change the ruthless and careless behavior of the SNS regime, which has long lost its sense of humanity and accountability.”
