In a modest workshop in the city of Gjilan, an ambitious project with immense potential is taking shape. A group of young innovators is diligently working on creating drones and aircraft produced entirely in Kosovo.
Their goal is clear: to develop an advanced indigenous drone named “Sokoli” (The Falcon), intended to compete with renowned international models, including the highly acclaimed Turkish Bayraktar.
“We are spending around 50,000 euros per month just on research, development, and testing,” Ridvan Aliu told Klan Kosova.
Several functional models have already been built. The final drone, Sokoli, is anticipated to be unveiled next week, with its market release projected within 7 to 12 months. According to Aliu, the power of Sokoli is expected to surpass even that of the Bayraktar.
This initiative marks a significant leap for Albanian innovation and technology, demonstrating Kosovo’s burgeoning capabilities in the field.
