A meeting between senior American and European officials took place on Friday in Washington, D.C. as part of ongoing efforts related to the Kosovo–Serbia dialogue.

Senior U.S. State Department official Brendan Hanrahan met with the European Union’s special envoy for the dialogue, Peter Sorensen. The meeting was held around 11:15 a.m. local time and was closed to the media.

However, a statement was released today by the Danish diplomat, confirming that discussions focused on the Kosovo–Serbia dialogue, reviewing recent achievements, and ensuring alignment on next steps.

“Excellent meeting with Senior Bureau Official Brendan Hanrahan at the State Department. We discussed the dialogue, reviewed recent progress, and ensured alignment on the way forward,” Sorensen wrote.

Sorensen’s visit to the United States comes after a recent agreement with the Government of Kosovo, led by Albin Kurti, regarding the Law on Foreigners.
