European Union Special Representative for Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, is set to visit Kosovo next week, according to diplomatic sources in Brussels.
This will be his first visit in his role as the EU Special Representative for Dialogue since taking office on February 1, when he succeeded Miroslav Lajčak.
The visit is scheduled to take place between March 17 and 19.
Initially, Sorensen had planned to visit Serbia during the same week, but the trip to Belgrade has since been canceled and postponed for another time.
There has been no official confirmation whether the cancellation of the visit to Belgrade is related to the current situation in Serbia and the protests taking place in the country.
According to European officials, any potential meetings within the framework of the dialogue will take place only after Sorensen’s visits to both Kosovo and Serbia.
One of the key topics Sorensen is expected to address in joint meetings will be the issue of missing persons.
Kosovo and Serbia’s chief negotiators reached an agreement in December for the implementation of a declaration on missing persons, which was approved at the leadership level in May 2023.
The first meeting of the Joint Commission on Missing Persons between Kosovo and Serbia, organized on January 15, failed after the Serbian side refused to participate.
