After two delays due to a technical issue and unfavorable weather conditions, the tenth test of SpaceX’s Starship — the giant spacecraft designed for future missions to the Moon and Mars — was successfully completed.
During the flight, all planned objectives were achieved. Following the controlled descent of the SuperHeavy booster, the Starship capsule successfully deployed eight Starlink satellite simulators and continued its flight until a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean, northwest of Australia, about an hour after liftoff.
The world’s largest and most powerful rocket lifted off from Texas shortly after 6:30 p.m. local time, in an impressive flight that lasted roughly 60 minutes.
This marks the first test in the history of the Starship program where all objectives were fully accomplished.
Meanwhile, NASA has scheduled this spacecraft to be used for its major mission — sending astronauts to the Moon under the Artemis program in 2027.
