Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has strongly opposed U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza, stressing that “no operation can cover up the crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.”

Speaking at an event in San Sebastian organized by the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), Sanchez declared that “Spain will not allow Trump’s plan for Gaza.”

He called for “respect for international law in Gaza as well as everywhere in the world, especially humanitarian law.” Sanchez further emphasized that Palestinians should live in Palestine and Israelis in Israel, in peace, harmony, and security.

“Nothing, not even real estate operations, can cover the shame, crimes against humanity, and disgrace of what has happened in Gaza over the years. We will not allow this. Spain will not allow this,” said Sanchez.

Regarding potential peace talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war, which has been at the forefront of the international agenda following a phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sanchez stressed that if such negotiations occur, “they must be conducted in the interests and under the leadership of Ukraine.”

The Spanish prime minister also defended multilateralism against those seeking to detach from international law and emphasized the necessity for Europeans to be present at the table for all types of discussions related to “the security of the old continent.”
