Nearly 2.5 million workers are expected to benefit from the increase. This increase, which amounts to 50 euros gross per month for 14 months, will raise the minimum wage in Spain to 1,184 euros gross. The increase is higher than the inflation rate, which reached 2.8% last year in Spain.
On an annual basis, the gain for workers will reach 700 euros, said Minister of Labor Yolanda Díaz on the social media platform Bluesky.
The Confederation of Trade Unions (CCOO) welcomed the agreement, while expressing regret that it was not signed by the employers.
The minimum wage in Spain has increased by a total of 61% since 2018 when Pedro Sánchez took office. At that time, it was 735 euros per month and one of the lowest in Europe.
