The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, received in a meeting the Ambassador of Hungary to Kosovo, Lászlo István Dux. According to the Speaker’s office, discussions focused on current developments in Kosovo and bilateral relations between the two countries.
“Speaker Basha and Ambassador Dux held a substantive discussion on the strong cooperation between the peoples and institutions of both states, with particular emphasis on enhancing interaction at the level of joint committees,” the press release stated.
Furthermore, it was noted that “Ambassador Lászlo István Dux conveyed to Speaker Basha the greetings of the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, while also extending an invitation to participate in the Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of Southeast Europe, which will take place in November of this year.”
Speaker Basha thanked the Hungarian ambassador for his country’s continuous support of Kosovo on its path toward EU integration and expressed appreciation for Hungary’s contribution to peace and security through its troops serving in KFOR. He also conveyed regret for the injuries sustained by Hungarian soldiers during the 2023 attack carried out by criminal structures in the north.
The meeting also included discussion on the “Stipendium Hungaricum” scholarship program, which has created new opportunities for the professional and academic development of Kosovar students, while also building bridges of friendship through cultural and educational exchange.
“Our common position is that Kosovo and Hungary will continue to deepen their partnership in the service of regional stability and our European future,” Speaker Dimal Basha emphasized.
