The Special Court has resumed work following the summer recess. Today, a preparatory conference will be held for the case involving former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi, in preparation for their defense.

The court has scheduled 10 hearings in September and two hearings in October for this case. Thaçi, Veseli, Krasniqi, and Selimi have been in pre-trial detention in The Hague for four years, facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The trial, which began in April 2023, is expected to conclude this year.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office filed the confirmed amended indictment against the four former leaders on 30 September 2022, containing ten counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including alleged crimes in Gjilan, Budakovë, and Semetishtë.

All four defendants previously pleaded not guilty during their initial court appearances in November 2020. The indictment was formally confirmed on 26 October 2020.
