Special Court Resumes Work with Preparatory Conference for Former KLA Leaders

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague will resume work on Tuesday, following the summer recess, with a preparatory defense conference for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi. According to defense lawyers, witnesses expected to testify described as prominent personalities will overturn the testimonies presented by the prosecution. Meanwhile, monitors argue that the prolonged proceedings have been marked by a lack of transparency for the public.

On Tuesday, Thaçi, Veseli, Krasniqi, and Selimi will appear before the panel of judges at the preparatory defense conference. The trial is set to continue in five weeks, with the first defense witness scheduled to testify on September 15.

Accredited lawyer Skënder Musa expressed strong confidence in the defense witnesses, stating that their testimonies will fundamentally alter the course of the trial:

“These witnesses will destroy all fabricated claims and evidence presented by Serbia, as well as the testimonies of Serbia’s collaborators who falsely testified before the Tribunal and this Special Court. One cannot compare a European or American diplomat, NATO or EU
