The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) has filed an indictment against R.M. on suspicion of committing the war crime of “Crimes against the civilian population” in Burim, Malisheva Municipality, on 31 March 1999.
According to the prosecution, R.M. acted in collaboration with other members of Serbian police and military forces. The indictment accuses him of:
- Participation in the killing of 34 Albanian civilians.
- Involvement in destruction of property, mass displacement of the civilian population, and looting property from approximately 1,000 citizens who were not involved in the conflict.
R.M. remains in pre-trial detention, and the case has been referred to the Special Department of the Basic Court in Prishtina for further proceedings.
The SPRK emphasized its commitment to pursuing criminal accountability for war crimes committed during the Kosovo conflict, aiming to deliver justice to the victims and uphold international legal standards.
