Special Prosecution Seeks Detention for War Crimes Suspect in Vushtrri

The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has filed a request with the Basic Court in Prishtina seeking a 30-day pre-trial detention for the suspect S.S., currently held in 48-hour custody, on suspicion of committing war crimes against the civilian population.

According to the prosecution, S.S. is suspected of acting in cooperation with other uniformed members, as part of mobilized reserve units under the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the war in Kosovo. He allegedly took part in the killing of unarmed civilians in Vushtrri municipality.

Furthermore, on April 6, 1999, S.S. is accused of participating in operations that involved looting, burning houses, and committing physical and sexual violence against unarmed civilians.

Investigators have secured material evidence, including witness testimonies, to support the case.

The Special Prosecution emphasized its continued commitment to investigating and prosecuting war crimes.
