Albanian Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali has reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to defending the justice of Kosovo’s just war and the rights of former KLA (UÇK) leaders at The Hague.
Speaking in the Albanian Parliament, she called for justice for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi.
“Our relationship with Kosovo is not an ordinary aspect of foreign policy; it is a historical and national responsibility. Albania will remain a strong voice for Kosovo’s rights, for its international integration, and the dignity of its state. Because the stability of the region passes through a strong, recognized, and Euro-Atlantic integrated Kosovo.”
Spiropali emphasized the importance of the proceedings at The Hague:
“In this context, the processes in The Hague hold special significance. Albania is and will remain committed to international justice, but international justice is not an abstract concept; it is measured by standards of equality, coherence, and the ability not to become a one-sided reading of history.
Kosovo’s war was not a struggle for power, it was a war for survival and freedom. This is a fact documented internationally.”
