Sputnik Serbia Spreads Misinformation on Kosovo’s Electoral Process / Their Aim is Destabilization and Incitement of Provocations by Serbs in Kosovo.
Petar Petković, director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo, has made unfounded accusations against Kosovo’s electoral process, alleging that the Kosovo Electoral Commission (CEC) is deliberately withholding votes from Serbian-majority municipalities. The 20-hour delay in processing data from just 0.83% of polling stations has been used as a reason by Petković to question the legitimacy of Kosovo’s elections, despite a complete lack of evidence supporting his claims.
Petković’s statements, suggesting that CEC is manipulating results to disadvantage the Serbian List, are framed in a manner that attempts to portray him and his supporters as victims of a larger conspiracy. His dramatic questioning of EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, about the delay in counting Serbian votes serves only to amplify an unfounded narrative.
Equally concerning is the role of Sputnik Srbija, which has quickly embraced Petković’s unverified allegations and presented them as fact. Known for its strong pro-Russian stance, Sputnik Srbija is using the situation to spread misinformation, erode trust in Kosovo’s electoral system, and influence public opinion. This disinformation campaign serves to fuel division and destabilize Kosovo, without any credible evidence to support the accusations.
It is important to note that the delay in processing a small percentage of votes is a normal part of the electoral process. There is no evidence suggesting manipulation or misconduct. Nevertheless, Petković and Sputnik Srbija are magnifying this minor issue into a major scandal, distorting the facts to serve their political agenda.
The rhetoric used by both Petković and Sputnik Srbija is not only misleading but irresponsible. By portraying the Serb community in Kosovo as victims of an unjust system, they are inflaming tensions in an already delicate region. The real objective is not to safeguard the integrity of the election, but to undermine the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo and encourage instability, provoking Serbs in Kosovo to incite unrest.
As events continue to unfold, it is essential to question whether Petković and Sputnik Srbija are genuinely concerned with the truth, or if their aim is to manipulate the narrative and create chaos under the guise of defending the rights of Serbs in Kosovo.

Who is Sputnik Srbija?
Sputnik Srbija, the Serbian branch of Russia’s state-owned news agency Sputnik, has long been a tool for promoting Russian-backed narratives in the Balkans. With its strong editorial bias, Sputnik Srbija has often been accused of amplifying politically motivated rhetoric that seeks to undermine Kosovo’s sovereignty and create divisions within the region. In this case, by amplifying Petković’s unfounded accusations, Sputnik Srbija is once again using its platform to manipulate public opinion, disrupt Kosovo’s democratic processes, and incite further unrest.
