The NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, has issued a statement following the arrest of a Croatian pilot, part of the mission, who is suspected of espionage in Serbia.
“We take these allegations very seriously. The safety of KFOR personnel and the integrity of classified information are paramount. We refer any inquiries regarding the arrests and ongoing investigations to the Croatian authorities. Meanwhile, KFOR continues its daily operations in line with its long-standing UN mandate, contributing to a safe environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo, in coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission (EULEX), in their respective roles as security responders,” KFOR said in a response to Televizioni 1.
The Croatian authorities have ordered one month of pre-trial detention for the former KFOR pilot and his Serbian partner, who are suspected of distributing confidential information. Notably, the partner was also part of the EU Rule of Law Mission, EULEX, and is suspected of transmitting information to the Serbian List.
