UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has voiced serious concerns over the potential participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the newly established Peace Council, an initiative launched by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Starmer described the possibility as deeply troubling, citing Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and the continued bombardment of Ukrainian cities.

“He is waging war against a European country. Bombs continue to fall relentlessly on Ukraine,” Starmer stated, stressing that recent political developments must not distract from the broader security crisis.

The British prime minister emphasized that events from the past week should not divert attention from the urgent need to safeguard European security and stability, particularly at a time when the conflict in Ukraine remains unresolved.

Starmer’s remarks reflect growing unease among European leaders regarding any international peace initiative that could legitimize Moscow’s actions, while the war continues and civilian infrastructure remains under attack.
